
I will provide a link to a text document of these procedures at the end of the presentation as well as some resources I find helpful when using Regular Expressions. This can make the slides look very crowded, but I think it’s worth it for those who want to learn more about how what they’re doing works. I'll do my best to explain what each expression is doing. It'll mostly just be copy and paste instructions.

I'm not expecting you to write your own Regular Expressions though. I hope everyone here has a basic knowledge of cataloging, MARC format, and maybe some authority control basics. I should probably state now that this presentation will be a bit technical, with regular expressions and JSON coding throughout. Here's what I plan to cover today: I'll tell you a little bit about me and the library I work at I'll talk about the different ways you can automate the authority control process in general I'll show you some different methods I have come up with to automate maintaining your authority file as new updates occur I'll give you a few tips, some links to resources and then take any questions you might have.
